Dear Overlake Family,
In just TEN days, we’ll be welcoming thousands of people to our church for Easter - and that’s a BIG deal because many people who’d NEVER consider going to church WILL show up that weekend.
Call it tradition.
Call it pressure from Mom.
Call it a season of spiritual openness.
In some cases, all three may be at play. No matter the reason, several thousands guests will show up at Overlake to check out the church thing; and that offers our OCC Family a unique opportunity to share the life Jesus offers in a safe and accepting environment – an OCC worship service.
We’ll have four Easter services this year:
Saturday – April 11
5:20 pm & 7 pm
Easter Sunday – April 12
9:20 am & 11 am
(No 6 pm Easter Sunday Service)
With all this in mind, we’re asking the Overlake Family to join us for nine days to pray and fast - in whatever way God calls you to. We want our hearts united and focused on Jesus and what He’ll do in us and through our church Easter weekend.
- We’re believing God will DOUBLE our average weekend attendance over Easter.
- We’re trusting MANY of those people will begin a relationship of love with Jesus that weekend.
- We’re praying that 10%+ of our guests will lock-in at Overlake and make OCC their church home.
 That’s why YOU CANNOT MISS our “First Wednesday” service TONIGHT at 7 in the Chapel. Not only will Pastor Gary Gonzales continue his “Contagious Christianity” teaching series, but we’ll ALSO spend an extended time in prayer and share some biblical insight into fasting and why Jesus calls those in relationship with him to fast.
Here’s how I think it will work for me - whenever I feel a pang of hunger or miss something else I’ve given up during the fast, I’ll pray…AND/OR invite someone to check out Overlake Easter weekend. I expect to break my fast during communion at our “Thank You for the Cross” service on Good Friday at 7 pm.

STAFF TRANSITION - GAIL GROOM//
January 1978, Gail Gunnells came to Overlake Christian Church where she faithfully volunteered and soon became a part-time, then full-time Finance Office staff member. She currently serves as OCC’s Accounting Manager. In December 1997, Gail married Larry Groom. Theirs’ was the first wedding in the Willows Road church building.
Gail has talked about retirement for years and is finally giving up her calculator and sharpened pencil for good on April 2. Thank you, Gail, for more than 31 years of faithful service to OCC! May God bless you in this next season of life.
