Opportunities for MOPS Moms

Creative Activities helper: During the years of raising young children, mothers of preschoolers hunger for simple creative opportunities where individuality can be expressed. In this season where sentences are rarely completed, moms enjoy the opportunity to learn a new activity and to finish something that becomes a visual aid for their invested efforts.

You can be part of a team that suggests crafts, get supplies, makes samples, helps the moms make the crafts, or maybe you specialize in something you think our moms would enjoy learning and would be willing to do a demonstration.

Hospitality helper: The overall goal of MOPS hospitality is to create a warm, safe, comfortable, and inviting place where a woman cam feel accepted among friends. We want to communicate to each mom, "You are special and we care about you."

We need people who can help decorate tables and set up the food table before each MOPS meeting, make coffee, clean up crew, make treats and thank you's for the Children's Program volunteers, be a greeter.

Special Events helper: You can be part of helping set up playdates or mom night outs.

Towards the end of the year we have a fundraiser to help with the cost of running our MOPS program. This is a big task and we needs lots of help: procuring donations, data entry, registrations, and so much more!

Mom Care Network: Our mom care network provides meals and other help to moms in need. You can bless others by offering to deliver a meal, clean a home or babysit. If you are a MOPS mom and need assistance or would like to help others in need, please contact us for more information.

Publicity helper: Every mom gets to be part of this great team as each group takes turns submitting great things for our groups newletter!

*Book review - Enjoy reading parenting or marriage help books? Be our book reviewer and submit a short synopsis of the book and how it helped, or didn't help you.
*Family Friendly Recipes - Enjoy cooking and baking for and with your family. Be in charge of a column that submits family friendly recipes!
*Web "Surfer" - Enjoy surfing the web and finding great websites with parenting help or fun learning sites for kids. Be our "Surfer Mom", and submit one or more websites and why you like them so much! (These can then be added to our resources page at mopsatocc.org too!)
*Your Column - Enjoy writing and researching things that could be helpful to our moms? Write about anything - within reason of course.
*Crafters Column - Enjoy doing crafts with your kids or maybe for fun things around your home? Be our "crafty mom." You don't have to be great at crafts. All you need are instructions and a fun attitude!

(All submissions are used at the discretion of the Publicity Coordinator).

The Publicity Outreach Team helps to get the word out about our MOPS group: handing out flyers or invite cards, or help by calling doctors offices and delivering flyers or recycled MOMSense magazines to those offices. Every mom can help in this area by bringing in their old MOMSense magazines to be place in doctors offices. A label of MOPS information will be placed over your personal information on the back of the magazine. Every mom can help too, by keeping a few invitation cards in her purse/diaper bag to hand out to moms at the grocery store, doctors offices, park, etc. Personal invitation is the most effective way to let moms know about MOPS.

MOPPETS:

Teachers/Helpers: While moms are attending MOPS meetings, their children are being cared for in our Children's Program. We are always in need of volunteers to come care for and teach these precious and very special children. Not only will you make a positive impact on a child, but you will help our moms as they find rejuvenation and guidance during this very special and challenging season of their lives.

Mentors: As seasoned veterans who have gone before, mentor moms bring guidance and encouragement to our moms in this challenging but rewarding stage of life. They offer a listening ear and practical ways moms of preschoolers can find fulfillment in their roles as mother, wife, friend, and woman. Our goal is to have one Mentor Mom for each small group. Donations: We accept donations for door prizes, crafts, and giveaways for our moms as well as financial donations. If you would like to donate, as a thank you we will place your business information on our Sponsors page and one time in our newsletter. Your donations are tax-deductible. Prayer: Please pray for wisdom and guidance for our leadership as we strive to share God's love and seek His guidance and direction for the ministry of MOPS at OCC. Please also pray for our moms and that God will bring those moms to MOPS who need His love. Pray that we would effectively live out the gospel for the glory of Jesus so that moms will sense and desire Him. Pray that the MOPS ministry would never lose sight of it's purpose "to meet the need of every mother of preschooler to the glory of Jesus Christ."
